Happy New month! I’ve always loved October, the first day of the month is Nigeria’s independence anniversary, so as a child, it usually meant no school, and lots of fun activities. It’s also my mother’s birth month, while she’s never one to be extravagant about celebrating, I just love this month even more because of her.
I did this shoot for my feature on Shawn Osimbo’s blog. She and I clicked from the first day I met her. What I love most about Shawn is her lack of superficiality. She’s as real as it gets.
When we were talking about this feature, I decided I was going to go with a bold look, mostly because I sense that a lot of women fear colour when it comes to Makeup. It’s not uncommon to find a woman with blond coloured mohawk, who wants ‘natural makeup’. I know! It’s such a contradiction. What women don’t know is that as long as makeup is well blended, it will look good.
Let’s dive IN.
For my 2nd look I simply switched lip colour (accessories and outfit).
Eyes: Anastasia Beverly Hills dipbrow pomade in ‘ebony’, Morphe brushes 35U multicolor shimmer palette, LA girl pro concealer in ‘fawn’, Sigma beauty gel liner in ‘wicked’, angel lashes.
Face: Estee Lauder double wear foundation in ‘sandalwood’, Estee lauder double matte powder in ‘deep’, sleek makeup contour kit in ‘dark’, bhcosmetics blush.
Lips: Dose of colors matte lipsticks in ‘kiss of fire’ and ‘pinky promise’ (first look), LA girl lipliner in ‘cocoa’ and Dose of colors matte lipstick in ‘truffle’ (second look).
I wear this yellow eyeshadow colour so much these days, it’s beginning to lose it’s wow effect on those around me, but I honestly can’t help myself, it’s just such a happy colour. I am Sunshine after all. I should emit fun bright colours. Tihihi.

As always…..love the play with colour….and you are right, great contradictions in fashion on our streets. People want to go all out but not really……

Thanks a lot Kat! The variations in every woman’s interpretation of style is definitely interesting.
